SENIORS ARE A FORCE!
The passion and activism of older Americans fighting back against the injustices of the Trump administration is obvious everywhere. As apparent in video coverage of both NO KINGS marches, older citizens are showing up in huge numbers and making their voices heard.
In the run-up to the 2024 election, many progressives focused on increasing registration and voting among young voters. While prior elections have attracted a steady increase among younger citizens, only 47% of 18-24 year olds turned out. At the same time, 75% of seniors voted in 2024. In fact, seniors have the highest turnout of all age groups – and census figures show that seniors have increased from 17 to 23% of the population.
We the Seniors, a growing alliance of grassroots senior activist groups around the country, is harnessing this energy by bringing together older Americans and amplifying their voices. We currently number 50 groups in 18 states and represent thousands of aggrieved seniors. We seniors have a unique perspective, having lived through many administrations and participated in many movements - anti-war, civil rights, the women’s movement, Black Lives Matter, the expansion of health care, etc, all of which leveled the playing field and enhanced the lives of marginalized fellow citizens. We’re proud of our accomplishments and refuse to see them dismantled!
TODAY, seniors, infuriated by the Trump administration’s attacks on Social Security, Medicaid/Medicare, and other issues, are expected to maintain a strong turnout in the 2026 midterms — and can make the difference in battleground states where Republican candidates must defend their votes to implement Trump policies.
While a slight Republican margin of older voters continues to favor Republican candidates, the gap is declining. Seniors voted for Trump by a 3-5% margin in ‘24. Our goal is to reduce or overcome that advantage by outreach and recruitment of additional groups and individuals, and educating and informing about the power of seniors to fight back against these injurious policies through a loud voice on social media, podcasts, and in the press.

I'm a 65 female yo liberal living in S. Florida. I attend local protests and have written letters and postcards. I want to do more, but I'm overwhelmed by all the volunteer groups. I don't drive buy can get rides locally.
I welcome any suggestions and ideas regarding what I can do to get more involved and fight thus regime.
